EBUS bronchoscopy
Camera, ultrasound and needle in one sitting.
The Olympus BF-UC 190F reads the lymph nodes between the lungs and takes its sample in the same sitting — the test that separates tuberculosis from sarcoidosis from cancer.
What happens
A thin scope with an ultrasound tip passes through the mouth into the airway. Light sedation, about twenty minutes, observation, home.
How to prepare
Nothing to eat for six hours before. Bring your scans and a companion to take you home. The desk will give exact instructions.
